Clearway can help improve and extend MOSS search and implement faceted search. Faceted search allows search results to be grouped by metadata tags or “facets”, which can in turn be used to further refine the search. For example, search results could be grouped by Document Type and Language, allowing you to easily click on English and Word to see only English language Word docs. Facets can be implemented using any out-of-the-box or custom metadata columns crawled as managed properties. These services can also be used to create custom search interfaces or search results pages.

Consulting Services from Clearway on methods of extending MOSS to authenticate against a forms-based authentication provider for external users of MOSS. This negates the need to add vendors/customers to your Active Directory for MOSS authentication. Forms-based authentication supports authentication against credentials stored in Active Directory, in a database such as a SQL Server database, or in a Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) data store such as Novell eDirectory or Novell Directory Services (NDS). Forms-based authentication enables user authentication based on validation of credential input from a logon form.  Unauthenticated requests are redirected to a logon page, where the user must provide valid credentials and submit the form. If the request can be authenticated, the system issues a cookie that contains a key for reestablishing the identity for subsequent requests.

Design and Implement a new look and feel for your SharePoint intranet collaboration portal. Master pages, a Microsoft ASP.NET 2.0 feature, lets child pages inherit and reuse a common design. This makes development and maintenance of the site much easier. For new pages, you do not have to redo the work that you did in the master page. At the time of rendering, the page brings in the code from the master so it is always up-to-date. Master pages provide a consistent look and feel for all the pages in a SharePoint site. By changing the styles or content of a master page, you can quickly customize the appearance of an entire site.
